I'll give this three stars but I'm being generous. Dined there tonight while on a day drive to Lake Wales. Service was satisfactory although there was some discussion as we arrived about some kind of problem between servers. Cleanliness was average at best. Grimy ceiling tiles, etc. Pulled pork was good but should have been served at a warmer temperature. Cole slaw, nothing special. French frys were grocery store freezer quality. Salad bar was pretty good as was the corn bread. Dry rub ribs were average. Baked beans tasted like they were straight from a can. My wife enjoyed the "homemade" mac & cheese. One other person at our table had the catfish and found it pretty good. Worst thing from dinner: don't get a glass of water with your meal. Strong, strong "Florida water" taste. I drink tap water from our long-term rental home in Kissimmee. But could not tolerate this water. Even the ice was strong enough to flavor my wife's coke. Sonny's need a water filter!

Not too bad. Got tired of trying to ever get into Manny's. Catfish very good, ribs were great, wine terrible. Humble surroundings but a good Port in a Storm. Service good.

Food "so-so". Service good - better BBQ elsewhere!

First off the table was horrible. It was sticky and had BBQ sauce all over it. Understandable if it was busy but we were only 1 of 4 groups in the restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and very attentive. Food was not good at all. I ordered the pulled brisket sandwich and most of the meat was so hard that I couldn't even bite through it. I reordered a pulled pork sandwich and it was back to me quickly. Not worth the trip in my opinion. There are better choices (even in Haines City) for dinner than Sonnys. We should have went to the Denny's across the street.

Most of the food of those in my party was cold. The dry ribs are amazing, hot & spicy, but the rest of the meal was horrible.

Great food! I had the ribs which fell off the bone and we had brisket which was really good. My son had the Bomb burger which he really enjoyed. Great server, very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend :)

How can you serve and advertise ALL YOU CAN EAT ribs and RUN OUT?! Meats are dry and need a whole lot of squirting of sauce! Also drinks were not refilled right away - Crappy service and messed up the order! Never coming back to this place again! 4 Rivers still is #1 for BBQ!!!

Love going to Sonny's whenever I am visiting Florida. First time at the Haines City one and it is very similar to the others I have frequented save for a new more upscale look to the dining room. My wife calls it American Chopper style if that makes sense to anyone. I got my usual beef brisket and garlic bread for lunch. The meat was well prepared and delivered not too long after ordering. Love there selection of sauces at the table mixing the Smokin' and Sweet Heat(!?) for the perfect meal. Linda took real good care of us as well. Parking is easy and they had a drive thru as well which I don't think is typical for them.

The restaurant is clean and we've had friendly servers. Nothing extraordinary, so only 3 stars. I've had the pulled pork and the chicken. The meat is nice and tender. I always get the baked beans and fries as my side items. My meal has always been good. Love their texas toast and love their sweet bbq sauce. I personally think Sonny's has some of the best sweet bbq sauce there is. Hubby always has the turkey and has never had any complaints. He generally gets the all-you-can-eat. The only problem is when he wants more, it usually takes forever to get another order out and they don't bring very much on re-orders. The re-order is only about 1/3 of the initial order. My theory is they are trying to make you wait for the re-order as long as possible so you'll feel full and won't want anymore. I guess it goes along with that saying, "The slower you eat, the quicker you get full." The food initially comes out very quick, yet the re-orders do not. Therefore, I think there's actually some truth to my theory.

I've been coming here years now & my experience always very from worse to good. The food always taste great, but the service is not always great. This restaurant can become very busy at times & this creates a long waiting time to be seated. The menu is very diverse with wide selections such as All You Can Eat Ribs/Chicken/Pork, BBQ sandwiches, chicken wings, & other southern favorites. The food portions are very reasonable in my opinion. I think 2 people can share an entree. I would only recommend this place if you love BBQ & willing to take a chance to have good service. The food taste great & prices are very reasonable in my opinion. Try it out for yourself.

My family and I have been coming here almost every year when we goto visit my grandparents in Florida. Usually it is very good for BBQ pulled pork, however this time I was very disappointed. The pork was dry and the bun cold. The sweet tea is still to die for and I tried the chicken wings for the first time and I was very happy with them. They were probably some of the best wings that I have ever had.

Very nice experience today. The four of us ordered all-you-can-eat ribs, pulled pork and sliced pork. Delicious meats and sides. Nice ambience from a newly- renovated store. Awesome service from Amanda. Definitely returning to this location in the future!

Had the 4 meat combo wanting to try a good variety. Sides were good (cole slaw and Mac n Cheese) which is why I gave this 2 stars. The meats, however, lacked. The brisket was dry and lacked a salty crust. The fat also didn't render out properly, giving me dry meat mixed with hard fat (odd). The ribs were so small and dried out. The bbq sauce was caramelized well but still didn't cover up the fact that the meat was dry. The chicken skin was flavored and cooked well but the meat itself was dry and the seasoning didn't penetrate the skin into the meat. Pulled pork was also dry and flavorless. The cornbread muffin had a good texture but could eat as a dessert! (Too sweet). Good sides, not meat. Cool place though. This was just my personal experience. Happy eating.

This location was recently totally redesigned so we thought we would check it out. My dad is a big fan of the baby back ribs and they had a full rack with 2 sides on special for $12.99. The restaurant looks much nicer than it used to. There is a much bigger take out area and everything is much cleaner and more modern than before. The food is still the same and rather lackluster. I'm not a huge fan of any of the bbq sauces here, but I heard that had just introduced a new Carolina sauce. This coupled with the redesign and the baby backs special is what enticed me to go. Imagine my disappointment to find that the new "Carolina" sauce is South Carolina mustard sauce. Dear Sonny's, you are so clueless about bbq that you don't even realize there is more than one "Carolina" and there is more than one type of Carolina sauce. You need to specify! That's the worst part the menu doesn't mention mustard, vinegar, Lexington. It just says "Carolina." Thank goodness the waitress told me. So, I ended up with chicken, fries, and mac n cheese. The mac n cheese is normally half decent, but it was cold and super dried out. The fries were not warm. The chicken was eh. But, my dad got his baby backs for $12.99, so at least someone was happy.

I give it a solid 4 stars. Pulled pork was good. Sauces were good and portions were more than enough. Also had nice cold beer which is essential to having a good barbecue experience. The place also has had a significant refresh since the last time I was there.

This place is going down-hill fast! The seater started the evening off, by forgetting people, skipping people and letting people just come right it. She lost control of the situation. The waitstaff seems tired, unhappy and very uninviting. The food also is getting worse. Even if it's a chain-restaurant, the food shouldn't be dry, bad tasting and over-salted. This Sonny's will not be getting our business for awhile, I'll wait for the remodel (Which looks to be taking a break).

I'm sorry ...but I am not a fan of this place . The food is ho- hum at best . The service was ok. Was greeted promptly . I love BBQ . I have gotten much better from a road side truck than this place could ever dish out . They need to invest in busboys. Far too many tables around us where dirty. Not the best experience... I will NEVER return. The only semi decent thing I had was a piece of cornbread. My son had the brisket it was very dry they should consider an au jus if they are going to over cook brisket! Too dry ! And also tough. Ordered the chicken too much smoke flavor and not juicy at all ! I was very disappointed.

This place is great. Excellent service, great food, large portions, lots of choices. I have tried bar b q in every state south and west of, and including Kansas City, and this place never disappoints. 5 different sauces, several types of beef, pork, and chicken. Great bread, slaw, salads, and sides. Even some desert choices. If you have not tried Sonny's, I think you should. If you like the Q, this place is for U!

We ate here last night. The service from the host was awful. She clearly didn't want to be there. We had to wait but we could see open tables that were dirty everywhere. They were out if chicken, sweet potatoes, sprite, lemonade, Mac and cheese and beans. The ribs were good but a half rack was a child size portion. The computers were down so our food took about ~45 minutes. Too expensive for the poor experience.

Most of the food of those in my party was cold. The dry ribs are amazing, hot & spicy, but the rest of the meal was horrible.
